Aluminium Exhibition | Weiqiao's Project "Development and Application of Key Preparation Technology for High-Strength, High-Toughness, and High-Performance 6XXX Aluminum Alloys for Automotive Lightweighting" Passes Scientific and Technological Achievement Appraisal

Recently, the scientific and technological achievement appraisal meeting for the project "Development and Application of Key Preparation Technology for High-Strength, High-Toughness, and High-Performance 6XXX Aluminum Alloys for Automotive Lightweighting," jointly developed and researched by Soochow University, Shandong Hongqiao New Materials Co., Ltd., Weiqiao (Suzhou) Lightweight Research Institute, and Shandong Hongao Automobile Lightweight Technology Co., Ltd., was successfully held in Wuhu, Anhui Province.

During the meeting, Zhang Hai, President of Weiqiao (Suzhou) Lightweight Research Institute, presented to the expert group the project's technological development background, content, industrial application, and socio-economic benefits. After listening to the report, the expert group conducted a series of evaluations, including meeting discussions and inquiries. They concluded that the project's overall technology has reached the international advanced level. Specifically, the 6-series aluminum alloy developed has achieved international leading performance levels. It was recommended to accelerate its promotion and application.

The aluminium exhibition has learned that the project "Development and Application of Key Preparation Technology for High-Strength, High-Toughness, and High-Performance 6XXX Aluminum Alloys for Automotive Lightweighting" is characterized by its complexity, technical difficulty, and high degree of innovation. It is the first to use ultra-fine subcrystalline control technology and has developed a 6-series new alloy (registered as alloy 6D10) with high strength, toughness, and fatigue resistance, possessing independent intellectual property rights. The project's results have been successfully applied in large-scale production at Shandong Weiqiao Lightweight Material Co., Ltd. and Shandong Hongao Automobile Lightweight Technology Co., Ltd., bringing significant economic and social benefits.
