In recent years, Southwest Aluminium has seized the opportunity of the explosive growth in the new energy vehicle sector, deeply cultivating the automotive sheet market, accelerating the development of new production capabilities, and continuously enhancing its capacity for new growth. The production and sales of automotive sheets have been steadily increasing. As early as before 2010, Southwest Aluminium began researching aluminium materials for automotive body applications, making it one of the earliest aluminium processing companies in China to develop such materials. They established specialized production lines for automotive lightweight aluminium and achieved an annual production capacity of 100,000 tons of automotive body aluminium sheet and strip products, enabling bulk supply of automotive body aluminium sheet and strip.

According to information from the aluminium show, Southwest Aluminium has consistently engaged in material development and application technology research for automotive aluminium sheets. They have mastered the fundamental theories and methods for controlling the structure and surface quality of aluminium sheets used in automotive body parts. They have developed multiple series of automotive body covering sheet products with performance levels matching those of advanced foreign aluminium processing companies. Currently, Southwest Aluminium has obtained material certifications from more than 10 automotive manufacturers. Their products are already being used in various joint ventures and domestically produced new energy vehicles. They have also established cooperative relationships with over 10 testing organizations and research institutes, including China Automotive Technology and Research Center, China Nonferrous Metals Material Institute, and Tsinghua University Suzhou Research Institute, laying a solid foundation for further expansion into the new energy vehicle market.
