New projects are steadily implemented in phases, setting the tone for the future market demand for aluminum. With the expansion of the aluminum profile market and its wide application in construction, NEVs and household furniture, the aluminum market demand is further upgraded.
New Projects of Wrought Aluminium Alloy Business in 2022-2023
Wanshun Group
1. As Anhui Zhongji owns an annual battery foil production capacity of 40,000 tons, Phase II (a 32,000-ton capacity) is scheduled to go into operation in 2023. In addition, the power and energy storage battery foil project with an annual output of 100,000 tons is under construction.
2. The project of Sichuan Wanshun Zhongji Aluminum Co., Ltd., as one of key support projects in the aluminum industry development chain of Guangyuan Economic Development Zone, has two casting and rolling line put into production in September 2022, with another nine lines to be put into operation within 2022, and attempting to put a cold rolling line into operation before the Spring Festival 2023. By the end of June 2023, 13 casting and rolling lines and two cold rolling lines will be in full production, and it is expected to realize an annual output value of about RMB 3 billion, pay an annual tax of RMB 80 million, and create more than 400 jobs.
3. Jiangsu Zhongji has an annual production capacity of 83,000 tons for aluminum foil mainly used for packaging. As a sub-subsidiary of Wanshun Group, Anhui Zhongji mainly engages in battery aluminum foil business with an annual capacity of the existing production line of 40,000 tons, and has two projects under construction, namely the electronic aluminum foil project with an annual output of 32,000 tons and the power and energy storage battery foil project with an annual output of 100,000 tons.
Shenhuo Group
Wenshan Prefecture Government signs an investment agreement with Shenhuo Group, planning to invest RMB 2.8 billion to build a new green energy aluminum foil project with an annual output of 110,000 tons in Funing County, the “East Gate” of Wenshan Prefecture. The project is currently the largest single aluminum foil deep-processing project to be built in China.
Gansu Jiugang & Tiancheng Color Aluminum Co., Ltd.
In 2022, Jiugang successively launched the renewal of Tiancheng Color Aluminum Green Short-flow Casting and Rolling and Aluminum Deep-Processing Project and Phase I of Tiancheng Color Aluminum Filling and Leveling Project, with the proportion of cold-rolled products among all outputs increasing from 30% to 60% in 2021, the proportion of high value-added cold-rolled thin-specification products increasing from 10% to 36%, thus realizing a substantial optimization of product structure. In 2022, the construction of a new 100,000-ton aluminum bar production project in west Gansu started, and a cooperation intention was reached with Baowu Aluminum for the joint construction of a 300,000-ton/year production line project of multi-specification and high-precision alloy slab ingots for hot-rolling, which, after the project goes into operation, will further promote the products to high-end and alloying, and enhance the product grades and added-value.
Guizhou Guilu Aluminum New Materials Co., Ltd.
In November 2022, the groundbreaking ceremony for the ultra-thin and power battery aluminum foil project with an annual output of 30,000 tons of Guizhou Guilu Aluminum New Materials Co., Ltd. was held in Aluminum Industrial Park of Qingzhen City. This project has a total investment amount of RMB 739 million, covering a construction land area of 116.5 mu, and with five production lines to be built.
Jiangsu Alcha Aluminium Group Co., Ltd.
Jiangsu Alcha Aluminium Group Co., Ltd. has invested in two major projects:, namely a 100,000-ton recycled aluminum sheet and strip foil project and a 30,000-ton battery foil project.
1. The recycled aluminum sheet and foil project is predominantly implemented by its wholly-owned subsidiary Baotou Alcha North Aluminum Co., Ltd., which has a positive role in promoting the company to reduce costs and boost innovation for business upgrading, and propelling the company's sound and sustainable development.
2. The 30,000-ton battery foil project is predominantly implemented by its wholly-owned subsidiary Jiangsu Alcha New Energy Materials Technology Co., Ltd., focusing on automotive alloy products, especially the new energy-related products for further development.
Xi'an Tianzhong New Material Holding Co., Ltd.
Xi'an Tianzhong New Material Holding Co., Ltd. will build a new project of 100,000 tons of large flat ingots and 20,000 tons of aluminum sheet and strip, which is expected to be put into production in 2024.
Guangxi Chaoli Precision Technology Co., Ltd.
At the beginning of 2023, the company’s casting and rolling production line of 300,000-ton aluminum sheet and strip and 200,000-tons battery aluminum foil project (Phase I) reached the trial production requirements and formally entered into trial production (commissioning), marking the implementation of the construction of a diversity of projects of Chaoli Group’s aluminum-based industrial chain, which demonstrates Nanning City’s effort to promote the construction of 100-billion-RMB aluminum-based new material industrial chain.
It is understood that the Chaoli precision project plans to invest a total of RMB 6 billion for the construction of the production line with an annual output of 300,000 tons of aluminum foil and 200,000 tons of battery aluminum foil, which will be mainly used for manufacturing the new energy battery aluminum foil, air conditioning aluminum foil, medium-gauge aluminum foil, light-gauge aluminum foil and aluminum strip. The project is divided into three phases, Phase I with the annual output of 70,000 tons of aluminum strip and 25,000 tons of aluminum foil, Phase II with the annual output of 150,000 tons of aluminum strip, and Phase III with the annual output of 80,000 tons of aluminum strip and 175,000 tons of aluminum foil.
Guangdong Xinxing Fenglv Aluminum Co., Ltd.
The aluminum products and metal processing project of Guangdong Xinxing Fenglv Aluminum Aluminum Co., Ltd. is one of the key investment projects in Xinxing County, expecting to be completed and put into operation within three years.
It is said that Guangdong Xinxing Fenglv Aluminum Co., Ltd. was invested and established by Guangdong Fenglv Aluminum Co., Ltd., covering a total land area of 1,100 mu, a total construction area of about 1.1 million square meters. The project will build an integrated industrial base that covers the whole aluminum manufacturing industry chain, including manufacturing research and development, processing and sales, warehousing and logistics, production and living facilities. The project introduces aluminum processing production lines and various inspection and testing equipment, with 70 extrusion production lines of differnt tonnages, including 20,000T large-tonnage extrusion production lines and supporting 7,500T, dual-drive 5,500T extrusion production lines, thus forming a complete cascade extrusion equipment production system. The project has a total investment of up to RMB 4 billion, expecting to be completed and put into production in 2025.
Asia-Pacific Light Alloy (Nantong) Technology Co.,Ltd.
The project intends to build a new plant of 53,510.23 square meters, with an added land of about 103 mu, involving an imported air-slip round bar molding system and over 80 supporting units including domestic melting furnace, homogenizing furnace and other equipment newly purchased. And the project will make use of the existing extrusion molding machine, and relocate the original melting, semi-continuous molding system and other equipment. After the completion of the project, it will have an annual production capacity of 100,000 tons of lightweight high-performance aluminum alloy profiles, with its products mainly applied in automotive chassis systems and body systems.
New Projects of Recycled Aluminum Business in 2022-2023
Guizhou Guilv Aluminum New Materials Co., Ltd.
Guizhou Guilv Aluminum New Materials Co., Ltd. proposes to build a 150,000 -ton recycled aluminum project, which is planned to be put into production in 2023. It is reported that the project, with an estimated total investment of RMB 333,421,400, will build a set of crushing production line (shredder), 3 sets of 70t double-chamber furnace, 1 set of 45t double-chamber furnace, 2 sets of 35t holding furnace and 1 set of 20t holding furnace. After completion, it will reach an annual output of 50,000t of aluminum alloy round casting ingots, 40,000t of casting aluminum alloy ingots and 60,000t of aluminum base alloy melt.
YONZ Technology (Wuhu) Co., Ltd.
With a total investment of RMB 8 billion and a planned land area of 750 mu, the project is expected to put into production at the end of 2023 with an annual output of 380,000 tons of new recycled aluminum materials for PV frames, brackets and energy storage battery trays.
Guangxi Fulv Aluminum Co., Ltd.
The recycled aluminum production and aluminum deep-processing project of Guangxi Fulv Aluminum Co., Ltd. will be invested about RMB 1.3 billion for 600,000 tons of recycled aluminum and deep processing. The project, with an orientation of high standard planning and high starting point development, will be built into a complex of green factories, intelligent factories, and circular economy.
Jiangsu Fenjie Non-Ferrous Metal Products Co., Ltd.
The project of 150,000 t casting recycled aluminum ingots of Jiangsu Fenjie Non-Ferrous Metal Products Co., Ltd. is expected to be put into production in February-March 2023, at the new plant in Henan.
Innovation Group
Yanshan County Government of Wenshan Prefecture and Innovation Group has signed a cooperation agreement on the high-quality recycled aluminum alloy materials project with an annual output of 800,000 tons. The project, with a total investment of about RMB 800 million, will make use of process waste from downstream customers and scrap aluminum alloy from other recycling sources as raw materials to produce high-quality recycled aluminum alloy materials.
Nanning Chaoli Aluminum Co.,Ltd.
According to Guangxi Investment Project Online Approval Supervision Platform, Nanning Chaoli Aluminum Industry Co., Ltd (hereinafter referred to as “Chao Li Technology”), a subsidiary of Chaoli Technology, had successfully filed a 700,000t recycled aluminum processing and production project in 2022.
It is understood that the project is intended to commence in May 2022, and put into production in February 2023. After the putting into operation, the project will annually produce of 700,000 tons of aluminum bars and other related products based on recycled aluminum resources.
