aluminium exhibition | Chinalco Materials Research Institute Co. establishes global benchmark
After nearly three years of dedicated efforts in top-level design and system layout, grounded in extensive technical expertise, the standardization initiatives at Chinalco Materials Research Institute Co. have recently yielded significant accomplishments.
According to the aluminum exhibition, in the annual meeting of international standards for aluminium and aluminium alloys held in October 2023, a Chinalco Materials Research Institute Co. - proposed international standard received approval. This marked a groundbreaking achievement as the first internationally recognized standard established in the aluminium processing industry in China. It was also the inaugural instance where Chinalco Group and Chinalco Institute took the lead in formulating and revising international standards for aluminium processing.
During the National Non-ferrous Metal Standards annual meeting in November 2023, the Aluminium Materials Institute clinched first and second prizes in the Technical Standards Excellence Award category. Furthermore, two individuals were honoured with the title of advanced individuals, a unique feat that marked the first time in the institute's history and the only occurrence in China where two individuals simultaneously achieved this distinction. The institute spearheaded the successful declaration of one national standard, one line standard, and one group standard pre-research plan, all of which passed the demonstration. Additionally, it led to the declaration of three successful group bid projects.
As the primary driving force behind the development and supply of advanced aluminium alloy materials in China, Chinalco Group has consistently played a pivotal role in drafting aluminium processing standards in the country. This leadership has been instrumental in shaping the historical trajectory of China's aluminium alloy material systems. Functioning as a specialized research institute within the Aluminium Group's high-end manufacturing sector, the Aluminium Materials Institute is responsible for scientific and technological research and development, fostering collaborative innovation in the realm of high-end light alloys. The recent commendable achievements in standardization underscore the institute's significant contribution to the service industry of Aluminium Group and the advancement of systematic industry construction.
Looking ahead, the Aluminium Materials Institute is committed to establishing a dedicated industry public service team. The focus will be on advancing the construction of advanced aluminium alloy process specifications and standardization, facilitating the unified planning of the backbone material standard system. Additionally, efforts will be directed towards enhancing research on the practical service environment of materials, addressing challenges related to cross-field application of technical standards, and promoting industry-wide technical cooperation for mutual benefit. These initiatives aim to lay a robust foundation for expediting the establishment of China's fully autonomous and controllable advanced aluminium alloy material system, ultimately realizing a high level of scientific and technological self-reliance in China.
